Edwin C Nichols passed away on May 5, 2011.

He was born in Friday Harbor in 1918, the grandson of pioneer Idele Nichols and son of Cyrus and Caroline Nichols.

Although his family left San Juan when he was an infant, he always had great love for Friday Harbor.

He spent summers on his uncle Jim King’s farm while a youth and later visited pioneer Etta Egeland yearly.

Etta and his mother, Carrie, were schoolmates on the island in the early 1900’s.

Nichols was a great fan of the yearly Jazz Festival and always enjoyed the beauty of the island.

He is survived by his devoted spouse, Inez; three children, two step-children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
