Rep. Jeff Morris, D-Mount Vernon, was leading Tuesday in his bid for reelection to the state House of Representatives, 40th District, Position 2.

Districtwide as of 8:17 p.m., Morris -- who is also House speaker pro tem -- had 19,012 votes to 15,426 for Decatur Island businessman John Swapp, Republican.

In San Juan County, Morris led 4,225 to 2,364.
