Orcas Vikings lead Island Cup game 7-0 at the half | Island Cup
Orcas Vikings quarterback Robbie Padbury scored a touchdown on an 11-yard run 3 minutes 44 seconds into the first quarter, then kicked the extra point to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead in the Island Cup game, today at Friday Harbor.
Kickoff was at 6:45 p.m. Reporter Scott Rasmussen estimates a crowd of about 300 enthusiastic fans, with a large contingent from Orcas Island.
Friday Harbor defensive back Donny Galt picked off a couple of Padbury passes to thwart two likely Viking touchdowns, and the Vikings went into the half with a 7-0 lead. Friday Harbor middle linebacker Cody West was ejected from the game for a couple of personal fouls.
Rasmussen is reporting quarterly from the game.
The second half is expected to begin at 8 p.m.
