A motorist was injured after her car clipped a bicyclist and a parked car and drove through the fence of the field across the street from Friday Harbor Middle School.

The driver, whose name was not available, was airlifted off the island to St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham, Sheriff Bill Cumming said. The cyclist did not suffer any serious injury. The parked car was partially damaged.

The accident occurred around 9 a.m.

Cumming said he believed there were no drugs or alcohol involved, but that the female driver had suffered a medical emergency.
