‘Idols’ raise $1,707
Jason Loop sings a heartfelt rendition of Tim McGraw’s ‘Don’t Take the Girl,’ at Saturday’s Relay Idol karaoke contest at Herb’s Tavern. The event, presented by Islanders Bank’s Relay for Life team, raised a total of $1,707 for the local Relay for Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life culminates in a round-the-clock walk on the Friday Harbor High School track July 25-26. Loop was one of 12 singers who sang two songs each in front of a packed house, with cash donations determining the winner. The eventual winner with the most money in her bucket was Jessica Dickson, who sang ‘Fast Car’ by Tracy Chapman.
