Veteran cyclists advocate ‘watchful’ winter rides

As the dark months of winter set in, it’s not only important for drivers to be more aware of surrounding cyclists, pedestrians and wildlife—but for cyclists to exercise increased caution as well.

Friday Harbor nets $500K grant in energy efficiency sweepstakes

The Town of Friday Harbor is the beneficiary of a $500,000 grant from the Washington state Department of Commerce, earmarked for "energy efficiency projects" on town-owned property.

Toxic creosote pilings removed near Blakely Island

Since creosote pilings can continue to leach chemicals throughout their lifetimes, efforts are underway to remove unnecessary and unwanted creosote structures, including pilings and derelict docks.
