The Journal's Island Scene, in the June 30 edition available on newsstands late Tuesday, features all of the Fourth of July activities scheduled in Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor.

In addition to the main story by Jane K. Fox, the section features a column of Fourth of July island memories by Howard Schonberger, an extensive What's Happening! community calendar, and a profile of Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshal Al Sundstrom.

Also in Island Scene: Stories about the "Green: ON THE EDGE" exhibit that opens Saturday at Islands Museum of Art, the kickoff of Family Art Days at the Sculpture Park, Jody Burns' The Garden Shed gardening column, photographs from local service clubs, and Around Town.

All told, the June 30 edition of The Journal consists of 24 pages — news, Obituaries, Sheriff's Log, Opinion, letters to the editor, guest columns, Relay for Life profile, Point/Counterpoint on the Friday Harbor Farmers Market project, Business, Sports, Classifieds, At Your Service Professional Directory, and town and county Legal Notices.
