Shannon Leigh Smith passed away May 11, 2010, at the age of 35.

She was a professional caregiver and a 1994 graduate of Friday Harbor High School. Her loving passion was taking care of island children, and she was an active fund-raiser for various causes.

She is survived by her parents, Darrell and Debbie Smith, brother Tony, sister Melissa Smith, and island mom Jeannie Rice.

Shannon will be buried Sept. 18, 2010 at 1 p.m., at Valley Cemetery. Potluck will follow afterward.

A memorial fund has been established in Shannon's name at Islanders Bank. The family thanks all the emergency personnel that assisted Shannon.
