Cameron Hull “Butch” Avery Jr., longtime island resident, passed away in Seattle on Feb. 8, 2010 due to complications from a stroke he suffered on Christmas Eve.
He was 71.
He was born on April 20, 1938 in Santa Monica, Calif., and moved to San Juan Island in the mid-1970s. A talented artist and builder, Cameron will be remembered for his quick wit, his charismatic personality and his irreverent sense of humor.
He leaves behind many friends and family who loved him and rallied around him in his final weeks.
A celebration of his life will be held April 24 at noon at the Grange Hall in Friday Harbor. If you can join us, please bring a dish to share, as well as your favorite stories about Cam.
