David and Sue Ambrose of San Juan Island submitted this tribute to their dog, Abby:

Abby, our beloved pound puppy for 16 years, passed from this world Feb. 25. She was there with us as we raised three children, sailed the sound, hiked the high country and finally settled on San Juan Island.

Passing cannot erase her ever-present smile or her loving, devoted heart. She will be forever missed.

We would like to particularly thank Sonja and Tess for their kind assistance in her final months.

Farewell, Abby ... happy trails.
