On May 6, Del and Marjorie Webb were lawfully wed in the chapel at Islands Convalescent Center.

Del has lovingly attended Marjorie, age 81, following a recent stroke. They decided it was time to let the world know how they truly felt.

Del and Marjorie have known each other since Marjorie was 16 years old. Marjorie married Del’s brother after high school and Del took a wife shortly after.

After long marriages with a deep friendship between the two couples, Del’s wife became ill and he cared for her till her death. Soon after the loss of his wife, Del’s brother fell ill and passed. Del came to Marjorie’s aid and helped her through difficult times. He moved to Friday Harbor to live with Marjorie in 2003.

Following her stroke, Marjorie had many setbacks in her recovery. Del stood by her through it all. When Marjorie seemed to have given up, Del came in and pleaded for her to keep trying. He came in every day at 1 p.m. to be present and part of Marjorie’s occupational therapy. His loving encouragement has helped Marjorie regain her ability to sit up and get on her feet if only for brief moments.

Marjorie’s hard work culminated in being fully ready to exchange vows. The ceremony was officiated by long-time Islands Convalescent Center resident, Rev. Jean Hendrickson. Jean has more than 15 years experience and has presided over countless weddings.

The voice of experience reminding us all that it is never too late for love.
