— This profile is part of a series of profiles of Relay for Life team captains and other volunteers.

Name: Carrie Burke Unpingco.

Involvement: Publicity/marketing chair.

Why I’m involved: Volunteering as the publicity/marketing chair this year gives me the opportunity to help the many people who are greatly affected by cancer.

All of us have been affected by cancer in one way or another, and I believe if we all do something, no matter how small, we can make a huge difference.

As I participate in Relay, I will be thinking of my Grandpa Larry, who lost his battle to multiple myeloma, a rare form of bone cancer.

Relay for Life allows our community to not only raise money for cancer research and services, but also be a part of something that matters! If you’d like to help promote Relay for Life this year or have creative marketing ideas, e-mail me at carrieb@interisland.net or call me at 317-6572.

About Relay for Life: Relay for Life is July 25-26 on the Friday Harbor High School track and football field. The event raises money for the American Cancer Society. If you would like to become involved as a volunteer or donor, call Chris Hallock, 378-8237; or Christine Gabler, 378-8928.
