Churches plan special events, services for holiday

Thursday is Christmas Day. Churches on the island have special events and services planned.
Today
— Children’s Pageant and Holy Eucharist, 4:30 p.m., St. David’s Episcopal Church, 760 Park St., Friday Harbor. Children of all ages present the Christmas story, followed by communion.
— Candlelight Christmas Eve Service, 4:30 p.m., Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church, 425 Spring St., Friday Harbor. Be led in worship by the chancel choir and children, sing Christmas carols and listen to the reading of the Christmas story. Multi-generational nativity scene will be presented.
— Christmas Eve Mass, 5:30 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, 425 Price St., Friday Harbor.
— Community Christmas Eve Service, 6 p.m., Christ The King Community Church (meets in Mullis Community Senior Center).
— Christmas Eve Service, 6 p.m., Calvary Chapel San Juan (meets at Paideia School, 265 Price St., Friday Harbor). Worship, testimonies, coffee and desserts.
— Festive Holy Eucharist, 10 p.m., St. David’s Episcopal Church, 760 Park St., Friday Harbor. Preludes by various local musicians prepare worshipers for a Festive Holy Eucharist Service celebrating the birth of Jesus.

— Holy Eucharist, 9 a.m., St. David’s Episcopal Church, 760 Park St., Friday Harbor.
— Christmas Mass, 9:30 a.m., St. Francis Catholic Church, 425 Price St., Friday Harbor.
