Friday Harbor, Spring Street graduations this weekend

The Class of 2008 will be saluted with all of the traditional pomp and circumstance in graduation ceremonies that begin this weekend. Scholarships will be presented, congratulations extended, memories shared.

You can learn all about the graduates — their plans for next year, their dreams for the future, their most memorable moments — in the special graduation section in the June 4 Journal of the San Juan Islands.

Saturday, Friday Harbor High School's graduation ceremonies begin at 6 p.m., Turnbull Gym. Katherine D. Fyrqvist is valedictorian; Daniel English is salutatorian.

On the other islands, Lopez High School's graduation begins at 2 p.m. in the Lopez School Gym. Arielle Wilson and Terrell Carter are co-valedictorians. On Orcas Island, OASIS High School's ceremony begins at 2 p.m. in the Episcopal Parish Hall in Eastsound.

Sunday, Spring Street International School's ceremony begins at 1 p.m. in the San Juan Community Theatre. Bryce Fintel is valedictorian.

Tuesday, Orcas Christian School's ceremony begins at 7 p.m. in the school gym.

June 14, Griffin Bay High School's ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Friday Harbor Middle School Commons. On the other islands, Orcas High School's graduation begins at 2 p.m. in the school gym. Melissa Moran-Hodge is valedictorian; Anthony Ghazel is salutatorian.

— Skagit Valley College San Juan Center's graduation is June 12, 7 p.m., at San Juan Center. The Journal will publish a special page featuring the college's Class of 2008. Pick up The Journal on June 11.
