Friday Harbor's annual fireworks display needs you

June 28, 2012 · 12:52 PM

It's just six days away, but there's still time to contribute to San Juan Island's annual fireworks show.

And, there's a need.

The San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce is roughly $4,500 shy of covering the cost of the upcoming Friday Harbor fireworks display, which totals $15,000, even with the support from various local merchants and several individuals.

Donations are tax deductible, and just 200 contributions of $25 each would erase the shortfall. You can contribute by also dropping in your spare change in the "Donation Firecracker" canisters at various island businesses, shops and stores.

Larger donations should be either sent or brought to the Chamber of Commerce office, 135 Spring Street, or mailed to the Chamber at P.O. Box 98, Friday Harbor, WA, 98250.

Make the fireworks show the climax of your July 4th celebration, and you can tell your kids that you, and they, paid for “that one.”
