On the air: Merritt Olsen farewell interview

May 9, 2012 · 3:58 PM

The Shakespeare was to set the recording levels. The words of wisdom, "Play it with passion" is his parting advice to colleagues and friends.

Tune into Friday Harbor Tiny radio, 1650 AM, to hear San Juan Community Theatre's Merritt Olsen talk with Journal reporter Steve Wehrly about his 12-year run as theatre executive director, life on the island, and more, tonight, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Olsen is stepping down as theatre director after 12 years at the helm. He is also directing the theatre's production of "The Sound of Music", which opens Thursday, as a sort of farewell performance.

The interview, sprinkled with reminiscences and peppered with allusions to past productions, begins with Olsen reciting lines from Shakespeare's Henry V. It can also be downloaded at the Friday Harbor Tiny Radio website, www.fhtinyradio.com/
