Three events in one at Master Gardeners spring plant sale

May 3, 2012 · 8:32 AM

Good things come in threes, like at the Master Gardners spring plant sale, Saturday, May 12, at the Mullis Community Senior Center.

In addition to spring plants, the sale will feature orchids for Mother’s Day and a bake sale fundraiser for the Friday Harbor Animal Shelter.

The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Mullis Center, 595 Nash St.

Featured items include homegrown veggies and herbs, including tomatoes, peppers, squashes, brassicas, basil, parsley and more.

Perennials selected from the gardens of master gardeners will also be available, as will hanging fuchsia baskets, an ideal gift for Mother’s Day. Plant sale proceeds benefit Master Gardener projects, such as the demonstration garden and diagnostic clinic.

The Animal Shelter will offer a variety of orchids, including phaleonopsis, miltonia and oncidium, as well as treats by local bakers. Proceeds from the orchid and bake sale benefit the Animal Shelter.
