Opening Day of boating season is on the horizon, swiftly approaching and pirates… arrgghh… this one’s for you.
Seriously, they shanghaied your name.
The 2012 San Juan Island Opening Day Boat Parade is Sunday, May 6, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Sponsored by the San Juan Island Yacht Club, the theme of this year’s event is “Pirates of the Salish Sea” and the parade is open to just about any kind of seaworthy vessel one can muster: power boats, sailboats and human-powered boats as well.
Prizes await the winners of these hardy categories: Classic, Commercial, Traditional and, naturally, Pirate Themed. Spectators can catch a grand sight of the flotilla on the decks of Spring Street Landing.
