Twila May Stephens | Passages
Twila May Stephens passed early Sunday, Sept. 19 at her home in Friday Harbor.
She was 66.
Twila migrated to the island shortly after her mother, Sidonia Barker, moved here in 1986. Twila was a jack of all trades, capable of fixing almost anything, in the most innovative ways. She loved anything Indian and was especially gifted at carving.
Twila was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying long walks on our beaches, woods, and loved camping. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and truly enjoyed doing temple work, serving, helping and lifting others.
Twila was born March 28, 1944 in Oswego, Ore. She is survived by her three sons, John Warren Stephens, Timothy Wayne Stephens, and Daniel Lee Pulse, all of Friday Harbor; and her sister, Benecia Caswell of Kent. Twila has five grandchildren, Bonnie Lou Yepez of American Falls, Idaho, Stephanie Nichole Swa of Green River, Wyo., Timothy Murphy of Republic, Wash., Anthony Ray Stephens and Rachel Lee Stephens of Friday Harbor, Wash.; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her unique spirit will be sorely missed.
