Mary Margaret Gavin Champlin was born April 19, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois. She married David Champlin in November 1940.

They moved to California where she was actively involved at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, as a Scout den mother, in Cotillion and PTA, and in camping, sailing and gardening.

The family moved to San Juan Island, becoming involved with St. David’s, the San Juan Island Yacht Club, and the Jazz Festival. She was kind and loving and will be missed.

Mary leaves behind her husband of 70 years, David; children, David L. (Bev), Janet, and Richard; grandchildren, Andrea and Adam; great-granddaughter Alexis; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. David’s Mortgage Elimination Campaign, Friday Harbor EMS, or Friday Harbor Animal Shelter.
