Thirteen new or transferred teachers and support staff were welcomed to San Juan Island public schools Aug. 31 at a faculty and staff breakfast.

The staff members are:

District:
— Rebecca Taylor, school bus driver.

Elementary School:
— Lisa Hamlette, teacher, transferred from middle school.
— Diane Heller, teacher, first grade.
— Leisha Holmes, contracted artist-in-residence.
— Susan Williamson, paraeducator.
— Rachel Williams, paraeducator.
— Amara Zee, PIP paraeducator.

Middle School:
— Sarah Mandzen, transferred from Elementary School.

High School:
— Brook Landers, Community Services, LAP, ES/MS Art.
— Betsy Ridwan, ELL teacher.
— James "Lumpy" Sane, custodial.
— Tamara Sindelman, English teacher.

Griffin Bay School:
— Suzanne Cowden.

At the breakfast, the school district thanked its community partners — individuals and organizations that support public education through their involvement:
