Streetcleaners are coming to your neighborhood

Submitted by San Juan County Public Works

A monthly street sweeping program taking place from May to October and a catch basin cleaning program in September will pick up “street grit” from San Juan County streets and ferry terminals. This grit generated in high traffic areas contains heavy metals, nutrients, oil and grease that can impact our water quality.

Orcas Island – Second Mondays, May through October, 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lopez/San Juan – Third Mondays, May through October, 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Help public works to prepare your street for cleaning. Please avoid parking your cars or placing other obstructions in the village areas during the times listed above, until the sweeper has finished and the no parking board signs are removed. Also, please keep tree and shrub branches trimmed back so sweepers can clean the streets from curb to curb.

Thank you for doing your part in protecting our waters.
