The San Juan Island Library is pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 Bookmark Contest. The bookmark contest is hosted annually for students in grades K-5 to promote literacy and the library’s summer reading program. This summer’s theme is A Universe of Stories.

Congratulations to the following winners:

• Kindergarten – Wynn Wall, Friday Harbor Elementary.

• First-grade – Sara Schubert of Stillpoint.

• Second-grade – Zea Angevine, Friday Harbor Elementary.

• Third-grade – Penelope Moore, Friday Harbor Elementary.

• Fourth-grade – Sienna Bartlett, Friday Harbor Elementary.

• Fifth-grade (tie) – Norah Leighton and Jack Hess.

The winners received gift certificates to Griffin Bay Bookstore. The winning bookmarks have been reproduced for library patrons to take home and can be viewed on the San Juan Island Library’s website at www.sjlib.org. All the bookmark entries are currently on display in the children’s area of the library.

Thanks to the Friends of the San Juan Island Library for their financial support of the Bookmark Contest. Also, a big shout out goes to the students for participating, and the local schools, homeschool families and staff at Friday Harbor Elementary School for its assistance with facilitating.
