Bears are welcomed at this picnic.

The annual Teddy Bear Picnic returns to San Juan Community Theatre, from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 27. The free event, sponsored by CATS (Community Arts Theatre Society), features face painting, simple craft projects, cookie decorating, refreshments, and, of course, teddy bears. Festivities take place in the patio garden and Gubelman Theatre.

Island musician Kirk Fuhrmeister will play music, sing and tell stories to the young audience and their families. Refreshments will include grilled cheese sandwiches, fruit, juice and cookies. Each child will also receive a complimentary stuffed bear from CATS and a book from the Early Learning Consortium and Critical Needs Task Force.
