Ever seen a 20-foot-wide by 10-foot-tall bicycle? If not, you will be seeing this iconic bicycle all around the island located at businesses in support of the Friday Harbor Bike Fest 2019 on June 1, formerly Bike-n-Brew, as now it is a festival and celebration of bicycling for all to enjoy for single-rider, couples or family admission.
The extra-large bicycle was first displayed by Friday Harbor Grand bed-and-breakfast at 345 Blair Ave. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, as one of the busiest streets in Friday Harbor. Several vehicles drove by several times to take photos.
Mayor Farhad Ghatan welcomed the bicycle on his property for all to enjoy. The bike fest is sponsored and hosted by the San Juan Lions Club.
This year’s event will take place on June 1 with a start, a finish, live music, refreshments and awards at San Juan Brewing Company’s side parking lot starting with the Cutthroat Pirates Breakfast at 8 a.m.
Three live music groups begin playing from 3-7 p.m. while barbeque and vegetarian burgers are served in the beer garden.
Any business sponsor may have this giant bicycle displayed at their business, depending upon weather and prescheduling with the San Juan Lions.
Thanks for supporting this year’s bike fest event. All funds raised stay local. This year San Juan Lions purchased the ‘Round Towner, a Nissan all-electric Leaf vehicle that caters to the elderly Peace Island patients and the general public.
Check the official website on how to sponsor, contribute or register at fridayharborbikefest.org.
This year, along with the three selected riding course offers a fourth casual ride to visit the 20th Annual 2019 San Juan Islands Artists Studio Tour.
Maps are included at the bike fest or on the official website or email San Juan Lions at email@example.com for additional information.
