Performance about local elders at San Juan Community Theatre

Submitted by San Juan Community Theatre

Composer and pianist Grisha Krivchenia has teamed up with San Juan Community Theatre to present stories of wisdom, artistry and humor of local elders to the stage. “Voices of Our Elders: Up Close,” runs 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13–Friday, Sept. 14, as well at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16, at the San Juan Community Theatre. Tickets are $17.

“I had the great privilege of writing original songs with hospice patients in Santa Fe, New Mexico and was very keen to write songs with and for my Island community, ” said Grisha. “Our elders have powerful words to share from a lifetime of experience, and a song delivers their messages beautifully.”

This year’s performance includes pieces written with local elders:

  • Eleanor Parnes
  • Kip and Stanley Greenthal
  • Bud Tritschler
  • Rod Kuhlbach
  • Trudy Dallas
  • Shann Weston
  • And features a remembrance of Bill Ament.

The Sept. 15 show will run at the same time as an electric car show in the theater parking lot. Handicapped parking and the circle drive will be open but arrive early to find parking nearby.
