Last call for upcoming Soroptomist award applicants

Submitted by Soroptimist International of Friday Harbor

Soroptimist International of Friday Harbor is accepting applications for its women’s educational and training awards, to be granted in spring. Two awards are still available, each with differing eligibility requirements.

The Fellowship Award is given to a woman in San Juan County who is returning to school for postgraduate study at an accredited college or university, leading to an advanced degree. This $3,000 award is open to local women established in a profession who wish to undertake advanced study working toward a master’s or doctorate degree. Applications for the Fellowship Award must be postmarked by Feb. 5, 2021.

The Educational Opportunity Award is given to a woman who is a resident of San Juan County, enrolled in an undergraduate degree or vocational skills training program. This $2,000 award helps to offset the costs of education and training. This award differs from the Live Your Dream award in that the applicant does not need to be the primary wage earner in a household to be eligible. Applications for the Educational Opportunity Award must be postmarked by Feb. 5, 2021.

Soroptimist members, their immediate family members, and past Soroptimist award winners are not eligible for these awards.
