Hospice of the San Juans will be hosting a Hospice Volunteer Training at 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 and May 14 at the San Juan Island Grange Hall, located at 152 First St. N. in Friday Harbor.

Lunch will be provided. Topics covered by the training will include and introduction to Hospice of San Juan and Hospice of the Northwest; explaining what caregivers and hospice volunteers have in common; caring for patients and families; maintaining confidentiality; practicing active listening; understanding dementia; maintaining self-care; and what being with a dying person really means.
