Graham Black sworn in as Port of Friday Harbor commissioner

Nov. 8, at the 4 p.m. regular Port of Friday Harbor meeting, new District 1 Commissioner Graham “Gib” Black was sworn in by Port Auditor Phyllis Johnson. Black will fill the term of Mike Ahrenius.

“[Black’s] background working with the city of Seattle and his public-private partnership experience really stood out,” said Barbara Marrett, port commissioner.

Black worked with the city of Seattle and has been involved in many non-profits. Marrett said during the interview, his answers to their economic development questions really stood out. Black is a board member of the Sailing Foundation, Marrett noted, and well integrated into the community.

“He has a lot of experience that we felt would be helpful to the port,” she said.
