Summer is just around the corner and members of the Southern resident orcas are making their return to the islands. In celebration of their return, the Center for Whale Research is proud to announce the beginning of a new program designed to inspire and inform orca enthusiasts about local whales and their incredible history.

On select Mondays, staff will pull from their video vault to share content otherwise unavailable.

The series will open with a showing of “Island of Whales,” narrated by Gregory Peck. “Island of Whales” is a journey back in time to 1990, as leading whale biologists embark on an expedition around Vancouver Island to investigate the island’s whales.

“Island of Whales” will be presented Monday, May 20, at the Center for Whale Research’s new Information and Outreach Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the show begins at 7 p.m. Snacks and drinks are available.
