Mistletoe has been hung and hot cocoa brewed, so it’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays are near. Check out all of the Christmas cheer and New Year celebrations happening on San Juan Island.

Wednesday, Dec. 20

Christmas Carol Sing-Along, 5-7 p.m., the Oar House, free. Brought to you by the Lutheran Church in the San Juans. Bring appetizers and Christmas cookies to share if you choose. All are welcome. Info, tomandevelyn@hotmail.com.

“Omnium Gatherum,” 7:30 p.m., Marie Boe Building, San Juan County Fairgrounds, free, but donations appreciated. Plays Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., as well. “Omnium Gatherum,” means “a gathering of all,” and the production incorporates the gathering of friends, candlelight, home-spun music, warm drinks, telling stories by the fire and letting go of life’s worries. New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 1

Island Rec’s Resolution Run/Walk 5k & Salish Splash, 10 a.m. Jackson Beach, $10 for ages 16 and over and free for 15 and under. Start 2018 off right by sprinting into the New Year with health and fitness at Island Rec’s third annual 5K. It starts and ends at Jackson Beach so participants can enjoy an icy dip in the Salish Sea at 11 a.m. Fires will be built and food will be available. Bring a change of clothes if you plan to splash.
