Kids can turn their imagination into designs with tens of thousands of LEGO parts in two new events offered by Island Rec.

An instructor from Seattle’s Play-Well TEKnologies will organize a one-of-a-kind LEGO camp at the Friday Harbor High School STEM building this winter.

LEGO parts aren’t just for fun anymore. Kids will be able to design and build as never before and explore physics, engineering and architecture in a supportive environment. Kids can build engineer-designed winter wonderland projects such as ski slopes, gondolas, snowmobiles and bobsled tracks.

Intro to STEM with LEGO, for ages 5 to 8, runs 9 a.m.-noon, Wednesday through Friday, Jan. 2-4. STEM Challenge Camp with LEGO, for ages 7 to 12, runs 1-4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Jan. 2-4. Registration costs $106 through Dec. 20 and $116 after that.
