Vivette Bordas is the 2018 Leadership San Juan Islands program director. Bordas is a graduate of LSJI 2017 and moved to San Juan Island in 2014. Now retired, her career was as a medical telemetry technician and instructor and as a certified nursing assistant. Vivette is from Nicaragua, Central America, and came to the U.S .in 1987 to look for a better life and education for her son.

One of the best ways to learn about LSJI is to talk with past graduates of the program, and interested persons can do that by attending one of three open houses in mid-October. The open house schedule is as below.

San Juan Island: Tues, Oct. 10, 5 to 7 p.m., 285 Geneste St., Friday Harbor

Orcas Island: Wed, Oct. 11, 5 to 7 p.m., Orcas Food Co-op, 138 North Beach Rd, Eastsound

Lopez Island: Thurs, Oct. 12, 5 to 7 p.m., Grace Episcopal Church, 70 Sunset Ln, Lopez
