I would like to formally retract any and all support for Joe Wheeler in the Port of Friday Harbor firing/restructuring. I have written some very strong worded letters to the editor in the last year and I now believe my support for Mr. Wheeler was completely misguided and unwarranted.

I believe I was manipulated into thinking he was of strong character, and I now recognize otherwise. To be very clear I continue to support all of the current port maintenance staff and their choice to unionize, as I believe this was a necessary step under past management.

I am optimistic with the new port director at the helm and wish only the best for the port in the new year.
