I want to thank the community for the memorial trees for Troy Sullivan. I moved here in 2004 so I’m not a real local like most here but I’ve met so many people that have taken me in and treated me like I am part of the community. I want to thank “Troy boy” for making the island feel like home.
He introduced me to his friends and family and they took me in like I was part of the family. Troy was one of the hardest working guys I know and he also loved to live life. The memorial trees being replanted at the Land Bank mean so much to Troy’s sister, family and friends. The trees are also memorials for Ben White and Kelli Ashcraft. They were all friends and the trees belong together.
The spot the trees are planted at what the place where Troy’s dad started his fishing career and Troy would talk about it to friends. It was a special place for many reasons. There isn’t a grave for Troy as he was cremated. I feel Troy was a traveler and there are many places for him. When Troy’s sister found out that the trees were removed she was devastated and told me that’s the only place that she can really go and visit her brother with great memories and look at those trees. That moment broke my heart and I had one mission to get those trees back where we planted them in that special place so everybody can enjoy them. Shane Bison helped me every step. He was Troy’s employer and one of his best friends also.
