Can you picture that iconic ear-to-ear grin of Snoopy's, of the Charlie Brown comic strip fame, has on his face when he's dancing? If so, you have a tremendously good idea of what's in store.
The spotlight will shine once again on the happiest of all island dances when Bill and Rita Ament’s sparkling troupe of performers take the stage for the 30th annual “Dance Happy” extravaganza, Saturday, June 14, at San Juan Community Theatre.
More than 50 local performers, children and adults, will be assembled back stage, waiting in the wings and ready to strut their stuff as the curtain rises and this outrageous family dance and song revue gets under way, beginning at 7 p.m.
You’ll be charmed by the cutest “Little Ones,” performing on stage for the very first time, and touched by the splashy show-stealing routine of the “L’il Starz” dancers. The “Big Starz” are sure to deliver a toe-tapping, finger-snappin’ performance, with a tap-routine to the music of the Muppets and shakin’ it up with Mr. Downtown.
That’s just for starters.
There’s the Super Starz, with a stirring, boogie-woogie number to the classic “Hound Dog,” and the island dance troupe Monarca are sure to dazzle with its color costumes and quick steps.
This year’s Dance Happy show features guest stars as well, such as “Annie and The Orphans,” from the Community Theatre’s recent production of the classic Broadway musical “Annie.”
From tap to jazz, hip-hop to ballet, with song and special guests in between, Dance Happy is sure to inspire. Tickets: $16 adults, $8 students, $5 RUSH, day of the show.
The show is co-sponsored by business partners Jensen Shipyard and VanderYacht Propane.
