Here are the winners of Island Rec’s annual contest

More than 70 people participated Island Rec’s 2008 Chalk It Up sidewalk art contest July 19.

“For the most part, it was the kids who got a chance to be creative, but a few adults also helped brighten up the sidewalks around the courthouse too,” coordinator Abby Spann said.

Participants got a chance to compete for prizes in three categories: Chalkiest, Best Use of Color, and Most Creative. First-place winners each received a $15 gift certificate to The Toy Box; second- and third-place winners received packages of sidewalk chalk.

Here’s a list of winners in each category.

Chalkiest
First: Ryan Cole
Second: Liam Cole
Third: Grace Pauls

Best Use of Color
First: Macalister Arendt
Second: Chiara Power
Third: April Esposito

Most Creative
First: Madison Kincaid
Second: Aida Must
Third: Yasmin Sarah
