Casting call for trucks, tractors

September 18, 2012 · Updated 3:03 PM

Island Rec is searching for “V.I.Ps” — Vehicles of Impressive Purpose — to participate in its annual Touch a Truck event.

Touch a Truck offers young children an opportunity to climb behind the wheel of a fire engine, explore the inside of an ambulance, and to learn firsthand about the many fascinating features and capabilities of specialized road machines.

Island Rec hopes to gather the widest possible variety of trucks, tractors, heavy machinery and other interesting vehicles to excite the minds of young learners. If you have an awesome, kid-worthy rig that you’re willing to share for a day—be it an old classic farm truck, a bulldozer, or a full-size semi—Island Rec hopes to hear from you.

The Touch a Truck event is Friday, Oct. 12, 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Friday Harbor Elementary School. For more information, contact Jason Davis at Island Rec, 378-4953, or jason@islandrec.org.
