Donations sought for Friday Harbor 4th of July fireworks show

June 18, 2012 · 8:48 PM

The 2012 4th of July parade will be one of the best ever, but “we need donations to pay for the fireworks show,” says Rebecca Parks, San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce events coordinator.

Merchants and a few “proud local citizens” put up the $15,000 for the basic fireworks show, but Parks says she needs help from a few more proud local citizens (and their kids) to pay for “one more rocket” and other costs associated with the show.

“Donation Firecracker” canisters can be found in various places around the island. Put in your spare change, or bring larger contributions to the Chamber office at 135 Spring Street or mail them to P.O. Box 98, Friday Harbor, WA, 98250.

Make the fireworks show the climax of the day. You can tell your kids you, and they, paid for “that one.”
