Picnic full of the bears—'teddy bears', that is, Saturday

May 16, 2012 · 12:17 PM

While teddy bears will no doubt steal the lions shared of attention, there's plenty of other activities in store, and live entertainment too, at this year's annual Teddy Bear Picnic, beginning at noon, Saturday, at San Juan Community Theatre.

Sponsored by Community Arts and Theatre Society, the child-friendly free event features arts and crafts, face painting, refreshments (PB & Js and grilled cheese sandwiches, fruits, juice and cookies shaped like bears) and, of course, teddy bears. Theatre director Merritt Olsen and local musician Kirk Fuhmeister of Isle Be Jammin will also provide entertainment during the picnic.

Each child will receive a stuffed bear, compliments of CATS, and a book provided by the Early Learning Consortium and Critical Needs Task Force.
