Devorah nears the end of 3,000-mile journey with $5,000 raised for wounded warriors

Friday Harbor’s musician at large — Devorah — is nearing the end of her 3,000 mile bike ride across the country to raise awareness and generate funds to assist those wounded in action in Iraq and Afghanistan through a program called Pennies 4 Patriots. So far the musician has raised $5,000.

She started pedaling Oct. 10, starting from Los Angeles and hopes to reach Jacksonville at 3 p.m. on Dec. 20.

The ride has included concerts, visits to Veteran Affairs hospitals, schools, churches, synagogues and American Legion Posts.

Devorah said this is her “get my boots on the ground” first fundraising cycling trip, and she already has another month-long bike trip journal on February 2012.
