Ian Gatley’s retrospective art exhibit of 21 pieces will open at San Juan Community Theatre, Saturday, Oct. 1 - Oct. 24.

Gately is a professor emeritus from Eastern Oregon University, where he taught art for 30 years. He moved to San Juan in 1994

The pieces range from watercolors, to stone lithography, to graphite and turpentine acrylics, oils, to crayon and nitro cellulose lacquer sprayed onto formed Belgian linen.

“The content of my work, although frequently illustrative, is very concept oriented,” said Gately. “And ranges from black and white to highly colored statements.”
