Author, artist and illustrator Sam Connery will discuss and sign copies of his six books Nov. 6. 2-4 p.m., at Griffin Bay Bookstore, 155 Spring St.

Connery may be joined by Paul Chadwick, a Disney storyboard artist who created the "Concrete" comic book character and with Connery authored "Let's Cartoon!"

In his career, Connery worked as an editor at Sunset magazine, illustrated a dozen books for Sullivan Readers, produced cartoons for ad agencies, and did a wide range of drawings for books by Addison-Wesley and other publishers.

Connery also drew on his extensive library of books on comic art and other memorabilia to produce articles on cartoon illustration for Smithsonian magazine and United Airlines' Hemispheres. He has taught cartooning in high schools and at a regional college.

Connery is the author of "Uncle Willie and the Cheadle Cup," "Secret at Chipping Green," "That Frog!," "Wayward Birds," "Wild, Weird & Wacky Creatures," and "Let's Cartoon!"

"Sam Connery is the kind of writer that visually oriented readers will like," Journal book reviewer Beth Helstein wrote in April. "His detailed illustrations draw the eye into the story with action, character, and setting."
