Rodney Wayne Shippee

Rodney Wayne Shippee died around April 29 in Friday Harbor. He was 63.

Born Aug. 10, 1946 in Turlock, Calif. Graduated Turlock High School 1964, attended Modesto Junior College, U.S. Air Force veteran (16 months in Korea), graduated Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 1974.

He married Toni Olson in 1965; they later divorced. He married his college sweetheart, Barbara Murphy, 1982. They operated a wholesale nursery in Vista, Calif. Barbara died in 1990.

Rodney later lived in Canby, Ore., and Port Townsend, Wash. Lived on a boat in Friday Harbor Marina for five years.

Preceded in death by his father, Merlin J. Shippee. Survived by his mother, Geraldine Shippee; brother, Mark Shippee; sister, Sandra Baptista; two children, three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
