Free health screenings courtesy of San Juan Lions April 19, 20

The Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit visits Friday Harbor April 19-20, offering 30 minutes of free health tests to islanders.

The Mobile Health Screening Unit will be at Mullis Community Senior Center April 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Friday Harbor MarketPlace on April 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Trained volunteers will test you for blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, hearing and vision. Screening is free and participants each receive written results to take with them to their physician in case additional care is indicated. At last year’s visit, nine clients were identified with seriously high eye pressure and at risk for vision loss.

This mobile health screening unit is being replaced and $150,000 has been raised by Lions Clubs in the Northwest region for a new unit, to hit the road next year.
