Islanders Bank is collecting supplies for San Juan Island public schools

Every year, teachers must buy school supplies for their students who can’t afford them.

To help eliminate the burden on our teachers and help classroom learning, Islanders Bank is sponsoring a Gear Up for Our Schools campaign.

The bank is collecting:

— black, blue, green and red pens, highlighters, water-based markers, dry-erase pens (fine and bullet tip),

— white board erasers, watercolor paints, pencils and sharpeners, colored pencils, erasers, pencil pouches and boxes,

— school glue and glue sticks, scissors, rulers, notebook and graph paper, spiral and composition notebooks, index cards,

— three-ring binders with dividers, calculators,

— pen, thumb and flash drives, and rolls of clear contact paper.

Collection bins are located at Friday Harbor Drug, The Office Center, Friday Harbor MarketPlace and Islanders Bank.

The campaign continues through Sept. 11.
