Senior Center Friends & Neighbors looking for volunteers who can drive seniors
December 22, 2008 · 11:27 AM
Pam Fry of the Senior Center Friends & Neighbors program e-mailed this request for help:
The Senior Center Friends & Neighbors program is looking for volunteers who are able to drive in this winter weather to help some seniors.
The Friends & Neighbors is a program coordinated by the senior center to help seniors with simple needs, e.g. rides to the doctor, grocery store, out to community events. With this weather, most of our volunteers are unable to get around. Many seniors have no family or neighbors/friends who they can call to help with everyday errands and they can be very isolated from help.
Volunteers with Friends & Neighbors are called when there is a request, and there is NO OBLIGATION; you can always say "no" if you are not able to meet the request. If you are, it is a big help. In this weather we desperately need a few more volunteers who can run shopping errands or take seniors to appointments.
If you are able to drive in winter weather and want to sign-up as a volunteer it would be greatly appreciated, please call Pam Fry, 378-5864, or the Senior Center, 378-2677, and mention Friends & Neighbors.
Thank you!
