Feb. 9, 2009 will mark the 100th anniversary of the Town of Friday Harbor’s incorporation.

Festivities began at the San Juan County Fair 2008 and will conclude in August at the 2009 County Fair.

As you are doing your Christmas shopping this year, consider gifting your loved ones with Centennial Friday Harbor memorabilia. The following items are currently available at the following locations:

— 2009 Centennial Calendars (Lions Club)
— Centennial License Plate Covers (Chamber of Commerce)
— Centennial T-shirt (Joe Friday’s)
— Centennial Charm (The Garuda and I)
— Centennial Pails (The Toy Box)
— Centennial Pencils (San Juan Island Library)

You may have noticed the first of four collectable Centennial postcards that have been distributed around town. These are being released every quarter throughout the Centennial Celebration and list the upcoming events not to miss. Collect and frame all four; the next release date is scheduled for Jan. 2.
