Maybe the person who took the little statue from its crib was motivated more by a spirit in need than by a mean spirit.

Maybe, just maybe — Lori Narum of Second Act wants to believe — the person who took the little statue from its crib really needed Jesus.

Removing the statue of the baby Jesus from the nativity scene in front of Second Act took some faith, if not courage — the site is, after all, across the street from the Sheriff's Department and the County Courthouse.

The nativity scene was placed on Friday; the statue of the baby Jesus was noticed missing Sunday morning.

Narum said the Second Act hopes the statue will be returned soon, no questions asked.

"We're hoping for a Christmas miracle," she said.
