The San Juan Island School Board hosts a reception celebration today at 4:30 p.m. for Sharon Sandwith and Donna Smith, who concluded their employment in the district’s food service program late this summer.

The reception, in the Friday Harbor High School Library, is open to the public.

Sandwith served in the district’s food service program as a cook and food service coordinator for 24 years. Smith served the program as a cook for the past 11 years.

"The board will recognize their years of service and contribution to the health and nutrition of thousands of San Juan Island students," Superintendent Michael Soltman said. "All families and students, past and present, are encouraged to attend. Please bring stories, cards, and hugs."
